Norks Follow Up Cheonan Sinking with Online Campaign of Lies

The Norks are at it again. In what's being called a "cyber campaign" they are spreading internet lies about how the Cheonan was sunk, and presumably, find some internet cranks who would believe it wasn't them.

North Korea has mounted a cyber campaign -- using stolen identities of South Korean Internet users -- to spread its claim that Seoul faked evidence on the sinking of a warship, officials said Tuesday.
Intelligence officials believe the North hacked into the Internet identities of housewives, students and others for its campaign, the Munhwa Ilbo afternoon newspaper said.
The North has put forward the view through websites at home and abroad to give the impression that many South Koreans do not trust the findings of a multinational investigation team, it said.
The paper said South Korean intelligence officials are tracking the campaign.
"The report is true," a National Intelligence Service (NIS) spokesman told AFP, declining to give details.
Investigators said on May 20 there was overwhelming evidence that a North Korean submarine fired a torpedo to sink the warship with the loss of 46 sailors in March.
South Korea announced a series of reprisals including a trade cut-off. The North furiously denies involvement and has responded to the reprisals with threats of war.
Numerous countries have condemned the North for the sinking, one of the worst military attacks on the South since the 1950-53 war.
The North says Seoul's conservative government faked evidence to incite tensions and to boost its support before local elections Wednesday.
The NIS blamed the North for cyber attacks that briefly crippled US and South Korean government and commercial websites last July.
