"Nobody wants to buy them a beer. Even near military bases, female veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan aren't often offered a drink on the house as a welcome home.
More than 230,000 American women have fought in those recent wars and at least 120 have died doing so, yet the public still doesn't completely understand their contributions on the modern battlefield.
For some, it's a lonely transition as they struggle to find their place.

Please join us in getting the word out!! Illinois Women Veterans need your support!! CONTACT YOUR STATE LEGISLATORS TODAY!!! We need Illinois Veterans and Veteran Supporters to contact their State Legislators and tell them to support Illinois Women Veterans by sponsoring HB4667.
ReplyDeleteHB4667-Provides for issuance of Illinois Women Veterans license plates.
Currently, there are over 70 specialty license plates available in Illinois, with more than a dozen to honor our Illinois Veterans who have served this great Nation. We are seeking support for the creation of a license plate that salutes Illinois Women Veterans and allows Women Veterans the recognition we so honorable deserve. Please help us in honoring our Women Veteran and recognize us as we have been serving our country since the Revolutionary War with little recognition.
Governor Pat Quinn and Secretary of State Jesse White (Army Veteran) are supportive of this idea, but the Illinois State Legislatures must pass HB4467 authorizing the creation of the special Illinois Women Veterans license plates.
