Russia may sell $5 billion (£3.3bn) worth of weapons to Venezuela, prime minister Vladimir Putin has said after a visit to the South American nation.
Mr Putin met Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez in Caracas on Friday. No new arms agreements were signed.
Mr Chavez says his growing arsenal is to counter a planned increase in the US military forces in neighbouring Colombia.
