Specialty truck builder Oshkosh Corp. (OSK) said Thursday it received an order for an additional 400 all-terrain patrol trucks for U.S. military forces in Afghanistan.
The order is worth $175 million and brings the company's order volume since July to 6,619 trucks worth $3.3 billion. The latest order will stretch production of the vehicles into May.
The truck is a smaller, more maneuverable variant of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected trucks, or MRAPs, built for troops in Iraq. Roadside bombs targeted at military trucks have been a leading cause of casualties for U.S. troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.
