Hawks & Doves in America

The Washington Post has an interesting article that talks about 'myths' of political hawks and doves in the US. Not sure I agree with all the reasoning, but the comments that accompany the following list are certainly worth at least starting a discussion.

1. Most Republican presidents have been hawks.
2. Americans consistently prefer hawkish leaders.
3. Republican presidents believe in the use of overwhelming military force.
4. George W. Bush was the ultimate hawk.
5. Democrats may pretend to be hawkish but remain dovish at heart.
