The English recruit into regiments, and rotate entire units through new equipment, garrisons, and deployments, while keeping the soldiers in those regiments for their entire careers.
The US rotates individual soldiers throughout the Army, with no attention paid to regimental affiliations or assignments, where the units remain in place and constantly change the personnel in them.
