UK In Action: Market Security

A Ranger from the 1st Royal Irish Regiment keeps watch on patrol whilst passing by a local shop. B Company of 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment are forward mounted into Patrol Bases and Check Points within the Nad-e-Ali area of Helmand. They recently deployed as part of the 16 Air Assault Brigade operational tour of Afghanistan. The B Company multiple (15 troops) based at Check Point KAMYAB supports an Afghan National Army Tolay (100 Afghan soldiers). This is a partnership; however the ANA take the main lead in all aspects, providing security to the population of Char-e-Mirza.
