Russia Plans to Save Earth from Rogue Asteroid

According to Wired and numerous other sources, the head of the Russian Space Agency has recently announced plans to deflect the asteroid 99942 Apophis from colliding with Earth.

There is, unfortunately, one slight complication: there is almost no chance of Apophis colliding with Earth according to the most current observations. I'm honestly a little worried that by monkeying around with a 350-meter asteroid, Ivan is going to accidently deflect it onto a Earth-impact course. After all, if their analysis of its current orbit is wrong, why should their course change calculations be any more reliable?
