USMC Commandant Nominee Surprise

Shocking pretty much everyone, Secretary Gates has nominated GEN Amos as the next Commandant of the Marine Corps. Wow. Now we gotta ask where GEN Mattis is headed.

US Defense Secretary Robert Gates has made a surprise choice for the next leader of the US Marine Corps, picking a career aviator over the two presumed lead candidates for the job, US media reported Tuesday.
General James Amos, currently the Marine Corps' assistant commandant, would be the first official with a background as a jet pilot to lead the service, the Washington Post reported.
Gates has reportedly made the decision to recommend Amos, but the recommendation must go to the White House and if President Barack Obama announces his nomination, Amos must also be confirmed by Congress.
His selection comes as a surprise to observers who had thought the post would go to either Lieutenant General Joseph Dunford or General James Mattis, Politico reported.

It should have been Mattis for the nomination. Probably didn't get it because he's a good leader which is on par with this administration.
