(post rain-soaked commute...)
The police have unearthed a drug-smuggling tunnel from Tijuana into the US. Great, now how long before they start importing their drug-war massacres, like the latest 18-body-count mass grave they've discovered. Shut the border now.
The US wants to boost still more aid to Yemen.
Darfur rebels have targeted Sudanese police and claim to have killed 50. Note, we said "claim"...
Human rights groups are claiming that the battle for Khandahar has destroyed hundreds of houses.
Iran says they've arrested four "terrorists", supposedly with UK connections. Are they "terrorists" or are they hikers? Or are they tourists? Or are the Iranians just nuts...?
The ghosts of the Balkans won't go away, but at least some efforts at healing are being attempted. Serb leader Boris Tadic is visiting the war graves at Vukovar in Croatia.

They've been building those tunnels for a long time now...at least back into the 1990s and maybe the 1980s.
Also, their violence has already leaked into the US. There have been kidnappings by these criminal organizations in Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. In some cases they've impersonated police officers to execute their crimes.
They also use semi-submersible craft to sneak stuff in. And then how much gets in via commercial traffic? How much protection has their money bought them from US officials? And once an official has accepted their money for something relatively small - there's no limit to what that official will do in the future.
So, the drug trafficking organizations need to be fought in Mexico. The demand for these organizations' products, however, must be fought here in the US. Either legalize it or find some way to convince people to stop using. Until you stop the demand, you can't do more than tread water.
