I hope that there is no unnecessary with the Marine Expeditionary Brigades operating out there.

Expeditionary has been in the USMC force structure naming for many years, even going away for a while during Vietnam (replaced expeditionary with amphibious) as not to be associated with the French Expeditionary Forces formerly operating there. The USMC Marine Air Ground Task Forces are named:

Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Bn+

Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB)

Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF)
