Iran to Debut New Weapons - Real, or Otherwise

Iran's official news agency is claiming an upcoming release of a number of new weapons.

A senior military commander announced on Monday that the Army plans to display a number of its new, home-grown air, ground and naval weapons during the Week of Holy Defense, marking Iranian sacrifices during the 8 years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran in 1980s.

"The Army's capabilities and new achievements in air, ground and naval defense will be displayed in the Week of Holy Defense," Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said today.

Pourdastan also boasted that in addition to the possession of modern weapons and equipment, the Iranian forces are fully prepared to confront enemies' threats against the country.

"The Army's Ground Force is at the highest level of readiness for defending the Islamic Revolution," he reiterated.

The Iranian Army recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of its home-made weapons, tools and equipments, including submarines, military ships, artillery, choppers, aircraft, UAVs and air defense and electronic systems, in massive military drills.

We'll see how real they turn out to be.
