Germans Powering Up For Afghanistan?

The Germans are ramping up the equipment they've got in Afghanistan.

Germany plans to send heavy artillery, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and more armored infantry fighting vehicles (AIFVs) to northern Afghanistan. German Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg announced during a visit to Afghanistan on 14 April that two PzH 2000 armoured 155 mm howitzers would be deployed to Kunduz “as soon as possible.” In addition, German forces in Afghanistan will receive TOW ATGMs and more Marder AIFVs.

Guttenberg said the additional equipment is not directly linked to the heavy fighting which killed three German soldiers and wounded eight more on 2 April. Germany will be the second member of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) to deploy PzH 2000. The Dutch contingent has three PzH 2000s in Uruzgan, southern Afghanistan.

So, let's see if they actually bother to use it, or if it just sits in the FOB.

It doesn't matter because they would be repeating the mistakes of the Soviets.
