The Department of Defense announced today the deployment of the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, as part of an upcoming rotation of forces to Afghanistan. Numbering approximately 3,500 soldiers, the unit is scheduled for deployment in November 2011 and will replace redeploying units with no increase in overall force levels.
A rare airborne unit on the West coast, 4/25's official site lists their organization as

- 3/509th IN
- 1/40th CAV
- 2/377 PFAR
- 425th BSTB
- 725th BSB
