FWIW...US Army survival manuals from the 1970's stated that you lose 40% body heat through your head. More recent studies shows that number to be more around 10%.

Having said that, the side-effects of hypothermia are well known and include "fumbles, mumbles and stumbles". Means: dexterity, coordination, and mental acuity diminsh as hypothermia sets in. So your brainpower does not exactly "evaporate" but it may diminish due to hypothermia.

Besides...some of the new military beanies (toques) that you can get look totally bad-ass.
